From strip to continuous profile

A roll forming line progressively shapes strip through successive roll stands. The required cross-section, material behaviour and dimensional expectations for the finished product are the main inputs to the line and tooling concept.

Begin with the profile drawing

Provide the cross-section alongside product lengths, material grades and thickness ranges. Mark critical assembly dimensions, visible surface expectations, holes and slots within the same revision. For several profiles, describe the product family and batch sizes as well.

Plan the line from entry to exit

Review which decoiling, punching, forming, cutting and product-handling stages are needed. Cutting method, tooling changes and exit stacking should be assessed against realistic production scenarios. Final scope is defined together with samples and acceptance criteria.

Key considerations

  • Line assessment based on profile geometry and material
  • Planned punching, cutting and exit operations
  • Changeover approach suited to the product family

Applications

  • Coil processing operations
  • Project-specific industrial production
