Converting coil into sheets

A cut-to-length line unwinds coil, performs the required levelling and cuts the material into defined lengths. How the sheets will be used in the next operation is the starting point for assessing the line.

More than a length measurement

Share flatness, diagonal measurement, surface protection and cut-edge expectations alongside sheet length and width. Material grade and mechanical properties matter when assessing levelling needs. Tolerances should be defined against specified materials and trial conditions.

Exit handling and stacking

Include sheet transport, stack height, batch separation and transfer to the next machine in the production flow. Sharing the existing handling method and available space helps establish a suitable scope for the complete line rather than only the cutting unit.

Key considerations

  • Sheet length, surface expectations and stacking considered together
  • Levelling requirements reviewed against the material
  • Exit and stacking layout matched to plant flow

Applications

  • Coil processing operations
  • Project-specific industrial production
